It’s been a journey learning from my wife about the wrangling of hives. She’s been at it a while now and still finds it a fulfilling and a magical mystery. This is our horizontal hive experiment. As you can see in the bottom pictures, we had a single lid on the single row of frames, but then we ended up stacking a row of boxes on top to expand it a bit. They still get a bit crazy with the comb. Sometimes the frame just isn’t enough for those little buggers, I guess. The beam we put the hive on is a great table to hold all the supplies while you’re checking your colony. Just got to make sure it’s high enough you can do a drive by with the mower and still get the deck under there.
